Problem

Many visual artists struggle to find a sense of community and accessible workspaces

As an artist, I’ve noticed that people in my field struggle to find accessible workspaces, reliable information, and a sense of community. This sparked the creation of a platform that unifies the needs of visual artists in one.

Solution

Enhancing creative connections

Through connecting artists, simplifying access to resources, and fostering meaningful creative communities.

A searchable feature that allows users to find available studio spaces by location, availability, and suitability for different artistic needs.

Studio Rentals

An events section featuring listings such as exhibitions, open studios, and creative gatherings that users can attend or participate in.

Events

Themed channels focused on specific topics, creating discussion spaces for artists with shared interests.

Channels

A dedicated feed where users can share posts, updates, and insights with their app friends.

Market Research

No existing app is tailored for visual artists

Through my research, I found that existing platforms only address certain needs and none are truly tailored to visual artists. While some apps offer partial value, no single solution effectively supports the full scope of a visual artist’s creative, spatial, and community needs.

Interviews

A solution is desired by most visual artists

The interviews revealed two distinct types of artists: those who prefer working independently, and those who actively seek a like-minded community. Many expressed a desire for a digital platform that could bring artists together, support connection, and create a shared creative environment.

Survey

What artists need most: community

The survey revealed that artists are seeking both practical and social support: access to suitable workspaces, a creative community, opportunities within their field, and an easier, more structured way to connect with fellow artists.

Survey Questions:

  1. How difficult is it for you to find a suitable space to work?

  2. How often do you search for a physical space to work on your creative projects?

  3. Which platforms do you use to connect with other creatives?

  4. How important is being part of a supportive creative community to you?

  5. How interested would you be in a platform that helps artists find the right workspaces and connect with a creative community?

Main Persona

Dalia Nassar | Emerging Artist

Mixed-media artist | 24 y/o

Dalia lives in a small apartment in Haifa, which she shares with a flatmate. She recently graduated from art college and is trying to establish herself as a professional artist. She is ambitious and passionate but often feels overwhelmed by the lack of community in the art world.

Pain points:

  • Relying on scattered resources from different apps

  • Hard to find a community

  • Can’t find an art studio

  • Can’t establish herself professionally

Goals:

  • Community: a space to connect with other artists

  • Access to affordable studio/space rentals

  • Make herself visible as an artist

Design Process

Design iteration

My initial design relied heavily on color but lacked depth and clarity. After mentor and peer feedback, I shifted the direction toward stronger usability, cleaner structure, and more intentional color use. The refined design feels more functional, thoughtful, and aligned with the app’s purpose—supporting artists through a clear and engaging experience.

Reflections

  1. Unexpected insights from interviews
Conducting multiple interviews revealed perspectives I hadn’t anticipated. This reinforced how dynamic and unpredictable early research can be, often uncovering needs and patterns that shift the project’s direction.

  2. The importance of focus
I learned that projects naturally begin broad and gradually narrow into a clear, meaningful concept. Having constantly refining my ideas allowed me to dive deeper into specific user needs and ultimately arrive at a more effective solution.

  3. The value of feedback
Being surrounded by experienced mentors and peers provided continuous, insightful feedback throughout the process. This input played a key role in improving both the design and my decision-making, and I’m grateful for the guidance it offered.
