About

Website Redesign

MeetFactory is a non-profit international contemporary art center in Prague.

This project focuses on redesigning their website. The new design aims to connect visitors with its vibrant programs in art, music, theater, and residencies, and to express its industrial yet inspiring identity through modern, intuitive design.

Problem

Structural Confusion

MeetFactory’s current website is difficult to navigate, unintuitive, and visually outdated, making it hard for visitors to access key information and engage with its diverse artistic programs.

Solution

Order, Cohesion, Engagement

To address these issues, I redesigned MeetFactory’s website focusing on three main improvements.

Clear Information Architecture

I restructured the site’s architecture to create a more intuitive navigation flow, aligning it with Miller’s Law to keep the main structure simple and clear.

Cohesive, Modern Visual Language

I developed a unified design system that reflects MeetFactory’s identity while improving clarity, consistency, and overall usability.

Engaging Interaction Design

I introduced thoughtful interactions that enhance the browsing experience, making the website feel more dynamic, accessible, and engaging for users.

Research

Understanding the Vision of MeetFactory

In this stage, I focused on building a clear understanding of MeetFactory. I visited the space (drawing on previous visits), studied its diverse target audience, and explored the organization’s history and mission. This groundwork helped me define the project’s direction and shape a design approach that reflects both the place and the people it serves.

Process

New Information Architecture

In this stage, I analyzed the original site structure and identified navigation gaps. I then created a clearer, more intuitive Information Architecture that organizes content into meaningful categories and sets a solid base for the redesign.

Components

Reflections

  1. Creative liberty to an extent
As a student project, I had the creative liberty for redesigning the website, but simultaneously limited access to real content and assets. Despite these constraints, I curated and adapted materials thoughtfully to best reflect my design vision and the experience I aimed to create.

  2. Navigating complexity
Throughout this project, I tackled a range of complex interactions that required deep learning, experimentation, and iteration. Navigating these challenges reinforced my ability to problem-solve through persistence and curiosity, proving to myself that even the most demanding tasks can be resolved with focus and determination.

  3. The value of feedback
Receiving insightful feedback from my mentor on various design decisions significantly improved the final outcome. This experience reinforced the value of consulting others and integrating multiple perspectives, rather than relying solely on my own viewpoint
