Overview
Shift Manager Dashboard
This project focuses on designing the UX/UI for the Shift Manager’s workflow in a system created for the operational needs of a boutique hotel. Our work focused on two key pages: the main Dashboard and the Guest Information page. These screens consolidate essential data into a clear and actionable interface. By offering real-time visibility and structured information, Shifter enhances decision-making, coordination, and overall operational efficiency.
Role Analysis
Identifying the User
Responsible for the hotel’s day-to-day operations and ensuring smooth coordination across all departments.
Identifying and resolving issues in real time to maintain an optimal guest experience.
Acting as the on-site lead responsible for the overall quality of the guest stay.
Research
UX Foundations
My teammate and I conducted extensive research to understand the shift manager’s workflow and identify the essential actions and information the dashboard must support. Through weekly planning sessions and ongoing feedback from our mentor, we refined the functional priorities and established a solid UX foundation.

Design Process
Design Iteration
This section outlines the design progress, moving from early low-fidelity wireframes to the final polished solution. Throughout this process, my teammate and I engaged in continuous discussions, critique, and refinement to ensure every iteration brought us closer to a clear and effective user experience.

Final Design
Where Efficiency Meets Aesthetics
The dashboard serves as the Shift Manager’s central command center, presenting the most essential information needed for quick decision-making, issue resolution, and guest satisfaction. It brings together all critical updates in a layout that balances functionality with a clean aesthetic design.
Rooms Occupancy
Provides an overview of room status per floor. Allowing the Shift Manager to instantly assess availability and operational readiness.
Issues & Alerts
Displays a table of active issues submitted by various departments for the Shift Manager’s attention. Issues can be clicked to reveal full details and required actions.
Overview
Presents a summarized view of the Shift Manager’s tasks and scheduled activities for the current shift. This card pulls data from the full “Schedule” page and arranges items chronologically to support quick planning and prioritization.
Satisfaction Stats
Summarizes guest satisfaction using ratings across four categories. The system automatically analyzes guest complaints to generate updated scores, accompanied by positive or negative trend indicators.
Guests
Offers two key insights:
Total Guests: A count of all guests currently in the hotel.
Guest Complaints: Shows the number of complaints submitted that day.
Today
Displays all scheduled check-ins and check-outs for the day, including their assigned times and completion status. This helps the Shift Manager track guest flow and anticipate peak activity throughout the shift.
Facilities
Shows the real-time status of key hotel facilities.

Key Interactions
From Insight to Action
By interacting with the dashboard, the shift manager can move seamlessly from high-level insights to focused actions and detailed views.

Collaboration & Teamwork
This project strengthened my ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Clear role distribution, structured planning, and continuous feedback allowed us to align our ideas while learning to balance individual perspectives with shared goals.Approaching Complex Systems
Designing my first complex system emphasized the importance of research, critical questioning, and flexibility. The process pushed me to think systematically, evaluate multiple solutions, and remain open to iteration.
